About

Before he became a leading mental health expert with millions of followers across social media platforms. Before the invitations to NBC’s “Today Show,” and The White House. And before he took a leap of faith to become a full-time content creator in the entertainment capital of the world, Hollywood, California, Dr. Kojo Sarfo was one of the millions struggling with undiagnosed ADHD.

Today, the Ghanaian-American doctor is a well-respected entrepreneur, full-time content creator, author, filmmaker, comedian, and board-certified mental health clinician. But he can easily remember being a kid, working twice as hard to be an average student, and ending up in an ESL program as a child. There, he bonded with his fellow students and developed a passion for the mental health community.

“I’ve be known to start things up saying ‘where my ADHD people at?,’ ‘where my autistic people at?,’ and ‘where my bi-polar people at?,’” Dr. Sarfo says with a good-natured laugh. “And there I am raising my hand. I’m saying: ‘I am doctor, and I struggle with the same things you do.’ I lead with my story because we heal and learn as a community.”

Dr. Sarfo is destigmatizing mental health through an engaging and entertaining social media empire. His TikTok videos which often feature hilarious sketches, raps, and accessible informational shorts, are loved by literally millions. Dr. Sarfo’s rare ability to demystify complex psychological diagnoses for younger people has made him the de facto mental health voice for a demographic who, at times, can feel disconnected and alienated from medical community.

Dr. Sarfo’s work has been recognized by a wide array of respected media outlets. He has been featured on Yahoo News!, PopSugar.com, Business Insider, Cosmopolitan, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Tampa Bay Times, Los Angeles Times, Huffpost, TikTok Creators, BuzzFeed, and Official Instagram @Creators, among many others. He works regularly with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts, and he is part of Meta’s Black Creator Program.

In addition, Dr. Sarfo maintains an impressive array of brand partnerships, including CVS, Paramount, and Hulu. Dr. Sarfo is also a well-respected author, having released the inspirational book, You Already Won: A Journey Through Education , Nursing, and Mental Health Awareness, in 2019 which earned him a book deal with Simon and Schuster. His latest book is 2022’s Feeling Good!: A Mental Health Workbook out on Adams Media, an imprint of Simon & Schuster

Dr. Sarfo began his career in the mental health field as a nurse, and ultimately received his doctorate degree in psychiatric nursing practice several years later. His work as a leading mental health expert is informed from years of seeing patients, working at psychiatric hospitals, researching mental health, and teaching as an adjunct faculty professor with the College of Nursing at his alma mater, Augusta University.
